High levels of transparency is required for logistics providers and in-house logistics departments of companies to operate efficiently. In this era of digitalization, condition and location of assets in transport or within a warehouse is quickly becoming a necessity. Companies are adopting paperless fleet and warehouse management solutions rapidly in order to transform their logistics and inventory management systems to an efficient and transparent process.
Smart logistics solutions consist of multiple sensors placed on the containers transporting or storing the assets, which collect information periodically. Different sensors are used to measure variables such as temperature, shock, humidity, pressure and more. The sensors are connected to a device which collects this data via connectivity protocols such as BLE, RFID and NFC and then transmits the data to a central monitoring center. In industries such as Automotive, where there is a large percentage of reusable containers used, monitoring can be done on a micro (SLC/KLT) level which expands the applications into in-house logistics.
